French Silver Gilt and Floral Patterned Guilloche Enamel Clock Box
About the Item
A most unusual and quite beautiful, large silver gilt and florally decorated French blue guilloche enamel box clock. The circular box with engine turned silver gilt base with bands of silver and white enamel with a wide floral guilloche enamel band to the base. The upper part of the box with a band of lilac guilloche enamel with the top decorated with French blue floral guilloche enamel and centered by an 8 day clock signed on the gilt dial by the famous company of "Black, Star & Frost New York" and below "Frances" sic. The quality of this piece is extraordinary, not only is the box silver gilt but also the bezel and most unusually, the backplate holding the movement which in turn is beautifully gilded. While Black, Star & Frost were the retailers the box is French as is the fine 13 jewel clock with 3 adjustments and signed "Ch. Hour France".
