Wall-mounted Clock Cabinet by Garry Knox Bennett

About the Item

California artist Garry Knox Bennett (1934 - 2022), best known for his whimsical art furniture, originally started out making jewelry in the late 1960s. By the early 1970s he'd branched out into larger scaled pieces, beginning with a series of clocks. From the inscription on the back of this wall-hung clock we know that this was his first attempt and his whimsy was already apparent. He wrote... "A little rough but who gives a sh*t? C+. Ambrose did this part. My First Clock to Dave & Barbara—May they enjoy". Signed and dated on the interior of the clock door, 'GKB ANNO 72'.
