19th Century Antique Olivewood Stationery Box

Unique large Stationery Box by Betjemann and retailed by Leuchars, with a Duke's Coronet. This wonderful stationery box is veneered in feathered Olivewood, ornate brass mounts, and wonderfully made large carry handles. With a winged Duke's crown above the monogram A.O. The interior is Satinwood lined and has various-sized stationery compartments and a calendar with its original cards The back of the left door features a removable leather pen tray and the right door houses a writing tablet. The domed top is hinged to allow access to the calendar cards and is completely removable revealing more storage space for that laptop, tablet or Ipad. This Antique Sewing box is octagonal-shaped with a rolled top, it features a hinged lid whilst standing on four carved winged Dragon's feet. The border on this Sewing Box is beautifully decorated with intricately worked foliate gilt borders and it shows various scenes of Chinese figures in pavilion gardens. The chinoiserie gold decoration adorns the exterior of the piece with decorative scenes of small Chinese figures in pavilion gardens. The interior houses a removable tray with eighteen compartments containing various bone sewing supplies. Two compartments in the interior have lids that match the beautiful chinoiserie decoration on the exterior of the box. There is a lockable drawer at the front of the box which contains six compartments. In one of the boxes, the lid is hinged and beautifully decorated to complement the box's exterior. An elegant tasselled key that operates a fully operational lock is included with this wonderful Chinoiserie Sewing Box.

Lifting the brass hinged lid reveals a gorgeously veneered Satinwood interior which houses three Goblets, five small cordial glasses, two intricate mixing glasses, two classic juice glasses and four-cut Decanters with faceted stoppers. Sprung brass clasps secure the goblets on the underside of the lid, and the four decanters are stored in their own individual compartments at the back of the box. Both mixing glasses have their own padded compartments; the five cordial glasses are located securely in slotted sections of the box - they are secured in place by the front of the box which can be folded forward. With the front of the box open, the two juice glasses can be removed from their padded compartment underneath the cordial glasses.
