This is an antique nautical rolling ruler. An English, ebony maritime or draughtsman's instrument of the Captain Field's Improved type, dating to the late Victorian period, circa 1900. A treat for cartographers or draughtsman with this appealing ruler Displays a desirable aged patina and in good order Ebony presents deep black hues, legibly accentuated with white markings Captain William Andrew Field's design added compass points and a protractor scale to the opposing edge Brass rollers allow the ruler to glide smoothly across maps or documents This is a fascinating antique nautical rolling ruler, with the fabled Captain Field improvements.
