An exceptional, fine and impressive, rare and unusual antique Edwardian English sterling silver anvil inkwell; part of antique silver and glassware collection. This exceptional antique Edwardian English sterling silver inkwell has been realistically modelled in the form of an anvil. The waisted lower portion of this impressive antique inkwell is plain and unembellished. This Edwardian silver inkwell is fitted with an impressive hinged hallmarked sterling silver cover reflecting the shape of a classic anvil. The anvil ornament is embellished with details replicating the waisted base, horn, table and face, in addition to a cast and applied smith's hammer. The cover opens to reveal a serpentine shaped sunken well and removable glass ink liner. Condition This antique inkwell is an exceptional gauge of silver, exceptional quality and in exceptional presentation condition. Full hallmarks struck to the surface of the body, in addition to part hallmarks to the cover are all very clear.
