About the Item
WMF. Secessionist Art Nouveau Pewter Inkstand. Germany. The inkstand is of rectangular organic form with stylized clovers to the front border, plain deep welled front, and smaller side sections, the raised inkwell section with a hinged stylized cover, and a double wirework handle, with organic whiplash to the back of the inkwell flowing back into the sides of the dish with floral and berry decoration. Marked WMF to the underside. Illustrated on page 286, catalogue number 224, ''Art Nouveau Domestic Design from Wurttembergische Metallwaren Fabrik'' published by the ''Antique Collectors Club''.
