This is a small antique tribal figure. A Polynesian, decorative soapstone statue of two boys in an embrace, dating to the late 19th century, circa 1900.

Dappled finish to heads and clothing highly distinctive and unusual
Hand-inscribed to base with the name Douglas - possibly a missionary on voyage overseas
This is an appealing antique tribal figure, with naive charm to the handmade forms and finish. The soapstone feels tactile in the hand, whilst the deep color has lighter translucence towards the edges. Delivered polished and ready to display.
