Huge and Unique Model of The Titanic
About the Item
White Star liner is made entirely from tin or toile circa 1910-1912. (She sunk in 1912)
The detail is simplified for the tin maker to complete his task makes this model a unique 'primitive'. The base is flat allowing it to be displayed on a long wall shelf or on a long table. The Model is totally original and shows the usual signs of age consistant with the vintage insofar as some paint has flaked off over the years (but please don't re-paint it.... it's just amazing as it is!)
It was found in a public house in Belfast where the Titanic was built and had been on display for many years. We are given to understand that it was made by an enthusiastic dockyard worker in his spare time and from tin that he would have had easy access to.
Our customers will know that this is not our normal purchase but we "had to have it". Nine feet long? --- What a "mother"!
