20th Century Myrna Baez Serigraphy/Silk Screen Print
About the Item
This is a Serigraphy/Silk Screen Print of a Countryside Scene by Myrna Baez called “Alborada” (The Dawn). It depicts a small and blossom tree planted in a grassland with a lake. A countryside scene full of hills is showed at the back. There are also few rectangular tunnels in the serigraph. In the painting predominates the shades of royal blue and green colors that the painter masterful plays with lights and shadows. The Painting’s width is 53.50 inches and its height is 40.50 inches. The painting is mounted in a dark brown wood frame. Myrna Baez ( 1931 - 2018 ) is one of the most important Puerto Rican painter and printmaker from the Puerto Rico’s Modernist Movement. She studied Arts in Spain. Her artworks has been shown and collected in the Metropolitan Museum of Arts, the Smithsonian and the Museum of Modern Art in New York. The serigraphy is pencil signed and dated by the artist at the lower right side and it is numbered 44/80 at the left side.
