Jo Ramakers comes from a family of artistic craftsmen. Famous in Geleen was the studio J.W Ramakers & Zonen, designers and manufacturers of church furniture in all styles, such as wooden and marble statues
Jo Ramakers' sculptures are mainly related to nature. In nature he traces the archetypes of life, not so much making them visible as expressing them. Unhindered by accidental appearances, he tries to depict things as concisely as possible, eager for images that take on a life of their own, but which are nevertheless always signs of the reality in which we live.
