About the Item

A tall abstract expressionist enameled steel sculpture by San Francisco painter and sculptor Béla Harcos from his late 1990s “Calligraphy in Steel” exhibition. Trio of billowed sail or leaf-like forms in black, red, and yellow enameled welded steel appear to balance upon a tilted disc that's affixed atop a slightly leaning tall black enameled steel pole with rectangular base. They’re accented by a pair of gracefully intertwined black enameled steel rods. The entire piece has a Kandinsky-like off-kilter energy that conveys a wonderful sense of movement, with a slight touch or breeze bringing it to quivering life.
