Bonsai "Cherry Blossom in Japan", Handmade in Italy, Signed by the artist.

About the Item

Unique piece sign by the artist. The Cherry Blossom bonsai is inspired by the beautiful Japanese trees and their flowering. The materials are wood and metals, representing both the strength of life and the roots of Mother Nature. Sculptures are always composed by wires that intertwine each other (monochrome aluminum or copper). The Purple Thoughts Bonsai is composed by 12.000 loops, all intertwined by hand. Every wire runs from the tree’s roots to its leafs with no junction or glue, it's a metaphorical hymn to the continuous circle of life. All the artist's creations are made with the “Wire Sculpture” technique. The materials I use are various, including copper, brass, galvanized iron, but the one that most characterizes and is predominant in almost all the works is aluminum wire. There are many reasons but to summarize two of them, I would say that the ductility of the material and the availability of a wide range of colors make it preferable to others. Each sculpture is created starting from an actual drawing of how the artist imagines the finished work, followed by a calculation of the quantity of threads necessary for the creation which varies depending on the size and complexity. During creation, each thread, of the hundreds that make up each work, runs from the roots to the leaves without any joining, welding or gluing. The entire structure is self-supporting thanks to the hand-made weaves, like all the rest of the sculpture, with a particular technique that ensures that the structure does not collapse on itself or tend to sag under its own weight. The creation of the canopy or leaf vault occurs thanks to the formation of thousands of loops or convolutions on each thread, which is repeated thousands and thousands of times, one by one, completely and rigorously by hand. Even the use of threads of different colors that the artist often creates with a predominance of one color for the trunk compared to the branches and leaves, requires a specific and very complex technique. All this makes the creation process rather long and painstaking. The bases used all come from reclaimed wood or trees felled due to natural causes. On the same bases, dozens and dozens of small holes are made in which the roots, often very dense and complex, are anchored in an equally complex job. Size H 23.6 in. x W 11.8 in. x D 11.8 in. H 60 cm x W 30 cm x D 30 cm.
