Contemporary Mexican Geometric Handcrafted Dual Cube Sphere Sculpture

About

This sculpture is created by renowned Mexican designer Pedro Cerisola, whose work is in the permanent collection of the National Autonomous University Science Museum and has been exhibited in the Franz Mayer Design Museum, the Contemporary Art Museum Rufino Tamayo and the Mexico City Modern Art Museum, among other venues. Based on a profound mathematical research, Estudio Cerisola combines advanced technology with highly skilled craftsmanship, to create intricate pieces from high quality materials with an impeccable finish. This limited edition of three pieces is fabricated in orange valchromat, an innovative material that combines the natural features of wood with the brightness of colours characterized by its flexibility. Mathematically, this figure shows the dual relation between the cube and the octahedron. Pieces are cut with CNC precision, the rest of the processes, from the assembly of the pieces, to the polishing and the final finish in natural oil are carried out manually.
