About the Item

Daniel Reynold’s ‘White Rope Abstraction’ is an abstract sculptural piece. An exercise in the art of capturing movement through clay. Organic in form, and hand built in stoneware clay, this lively work is carefully detailed to capture the light and cast a distinct shadow. The surface finish is achieved by layering dolomite glaze: a calcium magnesium carbonate that results in a rich, deep skin. Fashioned and textured using a variety of wooden tools, stones and scrapers. This work is clean and calm. Perfect as a hero piece, positioned adjacent to a light source for maximum impact. Unique piece About Daniel Reynolds Daniel Reynolds is a sculptor and ceramicist, focused on the creation of abstract mobiles, lighting, and large ceramic vessels. Working primarily with his hands, Daniel uses a combination of porcelain, stoneware, and glass shapes of various hues. On occasion, he adds other objects, such as gourd sections, to create an organic contrast to the main materials. The resulting aesthetic reflects the salient movements of the 20th century, paying homage to British artists such as Victor Pasmore, Patrick Heron and William Scott, to name a few. In contrast, Daniel's ceramic technique draws a direct line to the methods of the ancients, resulting in ample forms, enhanced through the use of simple colors and patterning. Daniel graduated with a BA Hons in painting and sculpture from Brighton Polytechnic, preceded by a BA Hons in 3D Design from Middlesex. Daniel's work has recently been exhibited at the Museum of Arts and Design, New York and is included in the Patricia Phelps Cisneros Collection, New York.
