Marble Totem Pink by Theodore Psychoyos

About the Item

The idea for a series of functional objects first was born while the artist was building his own home on the island of Naxos. This was the beginning of an ongoing exploration, inspired by the natural elements and the forms of unprocessed stone that are scattered around the island. To create the pieces in the collection, Psychoyos uses found pieces of marble that have been abandoned in warehouses and quarries, which were discarded and bear on them the marks of the human hand, machinery, and the elements. These randomly cut and shaped stone fragments the artist selects for their shape and texture, and then reimagines as furniture, giving new life to ancient stones that have lain unused for decades. Because they’re so old, most of these marbles are very rare and impossible to find on the market otherwise.

  • ARIA TOTEM I, by Rebeca Cors

    I. About Rebeca Cors Rebeca Cors (México, 1988). Her work oscillates between sculpture and utility object, studying the limits and meeting points between these two concepts. The intention of her work is to question paradigms in order to reinterpret objects from It’s established forms.? As a result, her practice approaches sculpture as: Abstract Sculpture - and - Utility Sculpture. The materialized compositions embody simplicity and balance, inspired by anthropometric proportions and nature’s forms. Simplicity is not a lack of content – but  the synthesis of the complex. A balanced and simple composition conveys peace. The art work’s origin comes from a place of inner peace, the materials and hands that materialize the piece add the same intention – as a result, the works emanate and propagates this serenity. Human beings surround themselves with objects through their existence, some for simple necessity or function, and -these others- that virtuate the space they inhabit, transmitting emotions that words simple fall short to describe; emotions that lead us to a state of contemplative meditation, in which the world around us seems to disappear for an instant, time vanishes and we enter this intimate human-object ritual, where a dialogue with the sculptural piece begins, words are not necessary. All hand-made in Mexico. All Mexican...

Water, one of the elements that make up everything in this world. The symbolism of water has a universal trace of purity and fertility, it is the source of life since the ancient cultures and considered an aspect of wisdom that takes the form in which it is held. It does not resist, it flows, but always goes where it wants to go to fill empty spaces. As water is becoming rare yet more and more precious due to the environmental problems such as global warming, pollution, climate changes etc… our concept, to create a fantastic water safe taking the shape of a mascot /Genie imitating the authentic type of liquid containers descending since the Neolithic period till the ancient Roman era passing by our heritage but definitely in a contemporary Silhouette using multiple materials.
