McBlock
About the Item
Introducing the "McBlock," a tongue-in-cheek blend of humor, commentary, and industrial aesthetics that delves into our consumer-driven world. This exploration takes the form of a resin-cast cinder block embedded with discarded McDonald's artifacts. Assembled with a deliberate nod to urban construction materials, the McBlock marries banality with profundity, embodying a harmonious discord that challenges preconceived notions. The commercial iconography, encased in resin, transcends its mass-produced origins to become both a relic and a poignant commentary on societal excess and permanence. This piece invites viewers to engage in a dialogue that elevates detritus to art, navigating the intersection of humor, cultural introspection, and the enduring aesthetics of industrial craftsmanship.

Madeline Isakson
Madeline Isakson transforms found objects and materials through emerging and traditional fabrication techniques to explore our culture of consumerism. Ubiquitous, mass-produced items we come into contact with daily are recontextualized and distorted until they become visible again in a new light—a new form that retains the blurry outlines of cultural memories. Driven by an exploration of new processes and materials, Madeline’s work continues to evolve and spans a wide range of collectible design objects, from lights to furniture to purely sculptural pieces. Madeline’s work has been exhibited internationally—notably during Milan Design Week, Denfair in Australia, and the Museum of Craft and Design in San Francisco, CA—it has also been featured in The New York Times, New York Magazine, Wallpaper* and more. She holds a BFA in Furniture Design from California College of the Arts and an MFA in 3D Design from Cranbrook Academy of Art.
