Revolve, Soft Pink, Light Grey, Circular Stoneware Sculpture by Matthew Chambers
About the Item
This mesmerising, subtly coloured pink and light grey, circular ceramic sculpture by Matthew Chambers is a true testament to this artist's highly accomplished technical skill and complete understanding of form. Matthew's ceramic sculptures push the boundaries of what has been previously accepted for the material. Created from stoneware clay that has been coloured with oxides and stains, the sculpture is formed of many sections which are hand-thrown to mathematical exactitude and constructed to create an abstract form which explore themes of constructivist design and abstract and rhythmical beauty.
Matthew Chambers is an internationally recognised British ceramic artist. Following a six year apprenticeship with Phillip Wood in Frome, Somerset, Matthew went on to gain a BA (Hons) 1st Class in ceramics at BSUC, Bath. He then went to the Royal College of Art, obtaining an MA in Ceramics and Glass. He has won numerous awards both in the UK and overseas including; The Ceramic Review Prize Awarded at Ceramic Art London and The Poole Pottery Award at New Designers. His work can be found in public collections in the Victoria and Albert Museum, the Fitzwilliam Museum, Cambridge, the National Museum, Scotland, the Swiss national museum of ceramics and glass – the Musée Ariana, Geneva and the Musee National de Ceramique de Sevres, France and private collections worldwide.

- Soft Lines in Pink, a Unique Abstract Glass Sculpture by Maria Bang EspersenBy Maria Bang EspersenLocated in London, GB‘Soft Lines in Pink' is a unique glass sculpture by the Danish artist, Maria Bang Espersen. Maria Bang Espersen works around the idea that all things are malleable, like glass, and that nothing can be permanently defined. Her experimental sculptures are therefore not only an approach but also a statement; one that states to never get caught up in the restrictive norms or to obey established hierarchies. Essentially, her works in glass, are a play with the possibilities of the material and an attempt to expand the viewer’s understanding of her chosen medium. Although static and solid in their final sate, Espersen stretches, pulls and bends her glass, resulting in works that appear soft and almost possible of languid movement. Her chosen candy confectionery colour palette entices and draws the onlooker towards the artwork, which deliciously glisten. Espersen studied glass and ceramics at Engelsholm Højskole, in Denmark, continuing her studies at the Kosta School of Glass in Sweden, The Royal Danish Academy of Design, and Haystack Mountain...Category
