Vertical Brutalist Green and Metal Sculpture by Frank Cota

About the Item

This composition of the artist Franck Cota is a pure creation of Brutalist design, whose balance is achieved through its verticality. The sculpture is made of metal elements, some of which are raw and rusty, while others are an assemblage of round, cubic pieces finished with green enamel. The play of materials and colors is highlighted by two rings of different size and smooth textures in a neon green hue that acts as a central sun illuminating the entire work. The use of the term "Brutalist" can sometimes be confusing. Originally an architectural term, it has since been adopted in various ways in the fields of art and design. It is inspired by the art brut movement, whose essence is based on the French word "brut", meaning "raw". This rawness and softness combination offers a contrasting experience in this sculpture. It is achieved not only through the use of those salvage items, but also through the almost expressionist treatment and rounded lines that underline the composition.
