A Mid-Century Modern aluminum sculpture of a man and a bird (or perhaps a child?).
William D. King (1925-2015)
This interlocking aluminum sculpture was one of a series, which were sold principally in museum gift shops in the 1960s-1970s during King's solo exhibitions.
Signed with the artist's cypher and dated 1970.
King attended attended Cooper Union NYC and is widely known for his impact in public sculpture. His long and successful career included countless solo exhibitions and his work is held in many important private and public collections including the Whitney, Guggenheim, MoMA, and Smithsonian.
Measures: Height ca. 13 7/8 in.
