Wood Sculpture Cabinet by John Risley

About

A wonderful and unusual sculpture cabinet by designer John Risley. Known for his furniture designs, Risley's talents veer into fine art as well, of which this cabinet is certainly an unusual example. A beautifully crafted cabinet with stepped, biomorphic, open peering slits all around and on top. Double-doors open to fully reveal a fantastic, densely packed, twisting tangle of floating, stepped, ribbon-like sculptures. An inspired instance of surrealist, non-functional furniture. Item is signed underneath, "John Risley 1975 Middletown, Conn".
