Blackened Brass Bear Candleholder/Figurine by Walter Bosse and Herta Baller

About the Item

Mid-Century Viennese bear figurine designed by Walter Bosse and Herta Baller as part of “Black Golden Line" (Austria, ca. 1950). Composed of solid brass patinated in a black finish, which is then polished off in places to reveal only the brass details of edges and nose. Can be used as a candleholder for a small, round votive, ashtray, or a stand-alone decorative object. Very small size: H: 1" x D: 1.5" x L: 2.63" (orange ping-pong ball measuring 1.5" in diameter is used to illustrate both the scale of the bear and size of candle the 'cradle' can accommodate). Very good, vintage with light wear/patina consistent with age/use. Retains the "Made in Austria" tag to the reverse.
