Early 20th Century Bronze "Mother and Three Young Rabbits" by Emilie Fiero

About the Item

A very charming early 20th Century American bronze group of a mother rabbit & her three kittens snuggled together, the bronze with excellent honey patina and very fine smooth tactile surface, raised on integral base and signed Emilie Fiero ADDITIONAL INFORMATION Height: 6 cm Width: 11 cm Condition: Excellent Original Condition Circa: 1910 Materials: Bronze SKU: 9029 ABOUT Emilie Fiero (1889 - 1974) was born on January 16, 1889 in Joliet, Illinois. As a young adult she studied art and sculpture at the Art Institute of Chicago. She went to Italy where she studied for a little while then on to Paris where she studied under famous American artist Paul Bartlett and under French sculptor Edouard Navellier. Returning to the United States once the War broke out she set up a studio in New York City. After the war she returned to Paris where she exhibited at the Salon des Artistes Francais in 1925 and 1927 and once again returned to New York City. She was commissioned to do sculptures for the Calvary Episcopal Church on Park Avenue near Gramercy Park in NYC and created a fountain for the Cleveland Museum of Art. She was a member of the National Academy of Design, National Sculpture Society, National Association of Women Painters & Sculptors, Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts, and the Architecture League. Emilie Fiero died in December of 1974 in Madison Wisconsin.
