Exquisite Collection of Six Silver & Gilt Articulated Fish from Spain / Italy

About the Item

A wonderful collection of articulated silver fish, including two gilt fish stamped “Made in Spain,” and four silver fish, one marked “Sterling 925, Italy” with faint hallmark, another marked VEGA 18 with other illegible hallmarks, and two others with faint hallmarks, all on the flexible tails of the fishes. Each fish has colored glass eyes in various colors, including red, blue, green, and one with clear & black eyes. Each fish is different, with beautifully detailed fin design, scale structures, teeth, and other life-like features. Two of them have hinged heads, and were used as herb or spice boxes. Several of the fish are feeding on smaller fish, which also feature colored glass eyes.
