Pair of Maitland Smith Tessellated Egyptian Seated Sphinxes, Entryway
A pair of large and impressive tessellated seated sphinxes. If lighting up your entrance way is what your looking to do this pair of seemingly flawless seated deities are breathtaking. Each on a pedestal base with gilt gold feet and malachite style and brass eyes are stunning.
The Sphinx sat perched on a mountain cliff nearby the ancient city. The creature guarded Thebes with a riddle that she had learned from the Muses. Each time a traveler failed to solve her riddle, she devoured them, effectively preventing anyone from leaving or entering the city
