Finely carved vintage soapstone bookends. Figures of pheasants beautifully and gracefully carved in these bookends present imagery that moves with the eyes as the Fine detail is observed. Pheasants have been used symbolically in ancient Chinese culture and tradition for hundreds of centuries. It is a symbol of beauty, good fortune and refinement. This vintage set is from the 1960s. Complements chinoiserie, midcentury, eclectic, Hollywood Regency styles.
