Stephen Charlton Hares Boxing Pair Bronze
About the Item
Stephen Charlton (B. 1958): Pair of large, boxing hares, 2015. Bronze no 3/9
‘There’s no better feeling than when we experience a lift of our spirit. When captured, that exquisite moment can transcend our external environment. To make people smile inside is the driving force behind the creatures I create. I embark on a journey to capture the essence of an animal, deliberately leaving detail to be filled-in by the viewer. Rather than create anatomical studies of my subjects, I observe behavior, stance and character. Character is the essence of being.’
- These boxing hares exude character and playfulness with a human quality characteristic of Charlton’s individual and original style and artistic sensibility.
- Injecting a sense of humor into the garden or the home if inset into plinths.

- Cheetah Stretching Ingwe FoundryS31 Bronze Sculpture Maquette 3/15 Monogram BMRLocated in BUNGAY, SUFFOLKBronze study of a stretching cheetah. RHS under the belly bearing Ingwe Foundry stamp, ‘S31’ or ‘S3I’, Edition 3/15, monogram BMR. Artist unknown. I have been unsuccessfully resarching who the artist could be. The stretching pose of the cheetah is contemplative with a graceful, ease and content expression suggesting its attunement and hierarchy within the landscape and the animal world. Its power is conveyed with a noble quality in the pose, the sleek form and the sinewy musculature. Beautifully handworked with rich brown patina. Almost certainly inspired by the work of Dylan Lewis...Category

- Sculpture Figurative Man Sitting Contemplation Bronze Manner GiacomettiLocated in BUNGAY, SUFFOLK- The composition is the timeless theme of contemplation in the manner of Alberto Giacometti. - Physical characteristics have been removed and reduced to create a pared down form which accentuates how the viewer receives and responds to this thinking/meditative man in a relaxed pose being with himself and what is around him. - The organic hand working is highly textured defining the work creating different perspectives and contours. - Modelled in resin with antique bronze finish - Signed Mendes - Alberto Giacometti is best known for his elongated figures, often walking or standing, as well as figural groupings in different spatial situations. Giacometti’s unique vision whittled his subjects down to heavily worked but stick-thin figures. - Opportunity to purchase a sculpture in the manner of one of the most important sculptors of the 20th century at a fraction of the cost of an original. Supplied on a custom made acrylic plinth...Category
