18th Century Italian Carved Polychrome Life Size Putti on Stand with Glass Eyes
About the Item
Hand crafted in Italy circa 1780, the antique cherub stands on a square base decorated with shell and foliage motifs. The hand carved sculpture depicts a life size young boy wearing a cloth around his waist, his arms extending and looking up; he is further embellished with glass eyes on his smiley face with curly hair. The colorful sculpture with fine details and wonderful facial expression, features the original hand painted polychrome and gilt finish. The neoclassical putto is in excellent condition commensurate with age and use, and adorns a rich hand painted patinated finish. Wings in the back missing. Place this cheerful Venetian putto figure at your front door to greet your guests!
