1920s Royal Dux Art Deco Flapper Nude Porcelain Figurine Elly Strobach mod. 3332

About the Item

A charming and well-modelled Royal Dux Art Deco figure of a nude female by Elly Strobach (b.1908), with soft bisque ivory flesh tones, beautifully detailed painting of the hair and hands, her knees bent with a gold material draped across her thighs. The gold detail continues on her shoes and her plinth. There are impressed and printed marks and numbers to the underside: model 3332, the applied pink triangle marked with the letter E, ‘Cechoslov.’ and ‘Royal Dux Bohemia’ faintly impressed around the oval. The sculptors name ‘Elly Strobach’ is impressed into the plinth at the back of the nude. We have made no attempts to clean the figure, she is in as found condition. Royal Dux Marks: Each of the four periods of Royal Dux production can be roughly identified by changes in marks. In the first period, 1860 to WW I, the letter E is impressed in the center of the pink triangle. E represents Eichler, the founder's surname. The letter in the center of triangles changes over the years. It's important to keep in mind that E is the earliest. The great majority of authentic factory-applied triangles from the first production period are unglazed. Made in Czechoslovakia, ca. 1919 Following the end of WW I, Bohemia, the home of Royal Dux, was united with Slovakia and Moravia to form a new nation, Czechoslovakia. This change appeared in Royal Dux marks around 1919. The letter E continued to be impressed in the center of the pink triangle and "Royal Dux Bohemia" impressed around the oval.
