20th Century Bronze Four Horsemen By Charlotte Dunwiddie, Signed Dunwiddie 1980

About the Item

Late 20th Century bronze of four horsemen, I believe to be the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse. The sculpture is signed and dated Dunwiddie 1980. Charlotte Dunwiddie was born in Strasbourg France June 19th 1907. She studied in Berlin, then in Spain and Buenos Aires before World War ll, and Lima after the war. She came to United States in 1951 and lived and worked in NYC. She was the National Sculpture Society first woman president from 1982-1985. She was the winner in 1971 of the National Sculpture Society Lindsey Morris Prize for best bas-relief including medallic art. She passed away in NYC on April 27 1995. This is a great bronze sculpture very intricate and detailed in a small space the base is 14 x 16. The base is filled with cement for weight overall in good condition.
