About the Item
Bronze reduction with a brown patina, on a black marble base of 2 of the most emblematic monuments of Paris: Arc de Triomphe and Vendôme Column
The Arc de Triomphe was built on the initiative of Napoleon I, following the victory of Austerlitz, in 1806, so that its victorious troops, like the Roman armies, returned to Paris under a triumphal arch.
His project will be taken up by his successors, to become today a historical symbol
The Vendôme Column was also erected on the orders of Napoleon I in 1806: inspired by Trajan's column in Rome, it is in its original form topped by a statue of Napoleon I as Caesar.
Under the July Monarchy, in 1833, this statue was removed and replaced by a representation of Napoleon as a "little corporal", dressed in a frock coat. Napoleon III had it replaced in 1863 to replace a statue similar to the original
