Art Deco Tall Spelter Female Table Lighter, C1930
About the Item
An Art Deco cold painted spelter figure strike lighter, Austria circa 1930, the young woman with a gold cold-painted finish. She's not signed but we are attributing her to Josef Lorenzl (1892 - 1950 Vienna). Great condition, only flaw to really note is the wand for the striker in no longer present.
Josef Lorenzl (1892 - 1950 Vienna)
A famous bronze sculptor in the Art Deco period, Josef Lorenzl worked from the early part of the 20th Century and started his career at a foundry in the Vienna Arsenal where he learned the techniques of bronze casting. Here Lorenzl designed bronze and chryselephantine figurines and also works in spelter.
