About the Item
Ceramic sculpture model Skull, Skull collection, designed by Microbo and produced by Superego Editions in 2009. Limited edition of 50 pieces. Signed and numbered.
Biography:
Born and raised in Sicily, Microbo spent the 1990s in London, studying, working for various media projects and eventually beginning her deep collaboration with fellow Italian artist Bo130. After returning to Italy, together the pair produced some of the most widely discussed exhibitions to hit the European emerging arts scene. Arteimpropria (2003) and The Urban Edge Show (2005) are two of the more influential events and introduced the Italian mainstream to a global underground art movement that would soon after receive lots of spotlight. An autodidactic artist, her trademark doodles and sensitive visual universe has had her listed as an influence on contemporary character design, illustration, communication strategies and the so-called Street Art phenomenon, yet as of late, the seductive and positive aesthetic of her paintings is generating excitement both among young creatives and established art connoisseurs. Microbo’s work belongs to public collections across Europe, USA, as well as in Lebanon. In the last 10 years she has received attention in a diverse selection of art oriented publications and has participated to several exhibitions, including shows at the Jonathon Levine Gallery (NY), The Museum of Contemporary Art in Milan (PAC), Wooster on Spring Street (NY), Espace Beaurepaire (Paris) and with No New Enemies at the Botanical Museum (Brussels).
