Composed of cut Red Oak slats laminated into a three-dimensional sculpture, this piece is entitled "Solace."
Karol, a trained engineer, with a side interest in mechanical design, earned six United States patents before the 1970s when he started woodworking as a hobby, and developed a process he called "contour sculpture." Using this procedure, he built laminated wood sculptures of the female figure. These proved to be very salable, and have been exhibited and sold in over 20 art galleries throughout the United States.
