Fine Patinated Bronze Torchère by F. Barbedienne Foundry
About the Item
Bronze oriental male figural torchère with bronze base and gilt patina. This figure exhibited at the Salon from 1850-51. In 1855 it appeared in the A.Collas and Barbedienne society catalogue. This piece is the only known orientalist works by Toussaint and therefore highly important. The base is signed and dated (1850) by Toussaint, and stamped with achille collas réduction mecanique. The back of the base is inscribed with F.Barbedienne Fondeur.
