"Forest Nymphs, " Pair of Art Deco Female Nude Sculptures, Alabaster, 1937

About the Item

Beautifully sculpted and highly dramatic, this pair of large Art Deco sculptures in creamy alabaster depict two female nude figures resting on leafy tree boughs, their hair streaming in the breeze and their faces turned upward. Beautifully sculpted by Umberto Zegna in 1937, the sculptures were clearly meant to play a featured role in an important room. Each of the sculptures sits on a cylindrical base of brown, streaky marble, attached by a metal post that fits into a slot in each base.
