About the Item
An elegant French mid 19th century Louis XVI st. patinated bronze and ormolu statue of a maiden, signed by Alexander Schoenwerck. The bronze is raised by an impressive Black Belgium marble mottled base with a rounded front. Above is the maiden, in classical dress looking down at her crossed hands, while leaning against a pedestal. Her hair is in an updo accented with a gilt hair band. Wonderfully executed with fine l details and proportions.
