About the Item
An attractive and richly detailed French mid 19th century Louis XVI st. ormolu and patinated bronze signed Delesalle statue. The statue with an oval patinated bronze base has two female maidens in classical dress. One of the maidens has her hand in the air letting a bird fly away from her finger, while the other is looking at a young cherub. The cherub wearing a wreath of grape vines on his head, playing with clusters of grapes in one hand and a glass in the other, as if he was planning on making wine. Walking alongside the maiden are two handsome familiar panthers. Wonderful and rich gilding throughout.
