A French sculpture of a 19th C Spanish musician by Justo de Gandarias , C 1870

About the Item

A very fine and well accomplished large bronze study by the Spanish artist and sculptor Justo de Gandarias (Spanish 1846 – 1933) entitled the Musician. It depicts a very pleasing composition of a traditionally dressed 19th century Spanish musician standing in a relaxed pose singing and playing music on his mandolin while entertaining his audience. The modelling and attention to detail especially the hands and face on this fine bronze are remarkable. It is in excellent original condition with a mid brown patination. Circa 1870 Height 52 cm x width 19cm x depth 15cm.
