A gilt bronze model of Ceres, Roman goddess of agriculture, modeled seated holding torch aloft in one hand and with a sheaf of wheat in the other, on plinth base, Italian, 19th century.
This particular model of Ceres appears to be strongly influenced by an image of her on a fresco from a Pompeii IVth style home on the Naviglio site of Pompeii.
