Dimensions: Height (total): 12-3/4 inches Width (total): 4-3/4 inches Diameter (base): 3-1/4 inches Hans Latt (1859-1946) was a sculptor from Berlin, who has created sculptures in the style of realistic naturalism throughout the city. Hans Latt was a pupil of Robert Haptel at the Art School in Wroclaw from 1878 to 1882. After a two-year study visit to Rome, in the years 1883 to 1885, he lived in Berlin from 1886 and participated in the same year with an Eros statue at the Berlin Academy exhibition . Hans Latt created statues, busts, reliefs, medals, tombs and monuments. Reliefs and sculptures from Latt's workshop, for example, adorned the facade of the high school to the Gray Monastery in Berlin-Mitte. The Fischerbrunnen in LichtenbergYoung man with fish (Fischerbrunnen) The centerpiece of this fountain is Hans Latt's larger-than-life bronze figure of a naturalistic naked boy who kneels on a pedestal holding a water-spewing fish in his left hand and a net in his lowered right hand. The date of origin of this figure is given in various sources between 1925 and 1933. The original location of the youth with fish was the entrance to the Lichtenberg city park at the end of the short Kielblockstrasse, there was also only a simple pool around it. When at the beginning of the Second World War many metal art works were to be melted down and used for the production of war equipment, gardeners who looked after the park could protect the figure from this fate: they bravely hid the boy in a pile of leaves on their base in Rathausstrasse.
