Inuit Artist George Noah Soapstone Sculpture "the Seal Hunter" Rankin Inlet

About the Item

Soapstone figure sculpture by Inuit artist George Noah of Rankin Inlet, Nunavut, Canada on the Hudson Bay. "The Seal Hunter" hand carved soapstone for the hunters body and that of the seal, carved bone for the face and fur for the hunters hood trim, the line is a waxed cotton. A very bold and expressive sculpture depicting the traditions ways of the Inuit peoples of the region. The soapstone has black and gray veining to it and has a light polish to the surface. Signed George Noah and dated 2013 on the bottom foot of the sculpture.
