Italian 19th Century Neo-Classical St. Marble & Ormolu Bust
About the Item
A sensational and stately Italian 19th century Neo-Classical st. white Carrara marble and Ormolu bust signed, Betti and stamped Pinedo. The striking bust depicts Roman Emperor Julius Caesar and is raised on an upside down Ionic capital. Caesar is dressed in his celebratory armor, with a cape draped over his shoulder. The young Emperor is gazing to his left, with a his laurel wreath in his hair, and has an Ormolu ribbon tied to the bottom of his hair in the back.
The bust is signed and stamped on the back by sculptor Luigi Betti, and cast by French bronzier Pinedo.
