Italian 19th Century White Carrara Marble Statue on Its Original Pedestal

About the Item

An exquisite and extremely high quality Italian 19th century white Carrara marble statue on its original Vert de Patricia marble pedestal signed Prof. R. Romanelli Firenze. The impressive pedestal displays a fine octagonal base below an elegant socle shaped support and tapered circular central column with fluted designs below the mottled circular top with lovely wrap around foliate designs. The white Carrara marble statue above displays a wonderfully executed ground designed base with charming branches and leaves where the beautiful nude young Aphrodite is kneeling. She has a finely detailed flowing fabric draped over her leg and is clutching a bird at her chest protecting it from the serpent at her feet. She wears a richly sculpted floral wreath in her hair and displays exceptional attention to detail throughout. Statue Dimensions: H: 35" L: 18.25" D: 18" Pedestal Dimensions: H: 39.5" L: 22.5" D: 22.5" Pedestal Top Diameter: 19.5" Raffaello Romanelli (1856 - 1928) Born in Florence, Italy. Romanelli was renowned for his monuments and portrait busts of noteworthy figures. He won numerous awards and had the honor to be commissioned by Pope Augustus III for two works at the façade of the Florence Cathedral.

Rossetti Roma 1878. The statue is raised on its original pedestal column with a square black Belgium marble base and mottled socle shaped support below the circular lightly tapered Rouge Griotte marble central support and circular mottled top.
