Josép Cardona i Furró bronze sculpture of a boy. Spain, late 19th Century / early 20th century.
This is a bronze sculpture of a boy, made by famous Spanish sculptor Josép Cardona i Furró (1878-1922). Cardona was a good friend of Pablo Picasso and also shared a studio with him. He is part of the second generation of Spanish modernist sculptors. He worked mainly in Spain, but also did work in Paris - which might explain the French inscription on this very sculpture.
A joyful and delicate work, which shows a boy standing very casual with his hands in his pockets. The boy is in short trousers and wears a cap. Very well proportioned and sculpted.
Signed J. Cardona on two places and with a casting mark on the back.
