Large Ceramic Figurine Sculpture by Manuel Felguerez 1960s
About the Item
Large ceramic figurine sculpture by Manuel Felguerez signed on the foot, manufactured in 1960s. Incredible work with his color and details.
Very decorative and attractive object.
Manuel Felguérez was born in Valparaíso, Zacatecas in 1929.
He was one of the most important Mexican artists, a pioneer of abstract art in our country, and a fundamental member of the Generation of Rupture.
Felguérez's work results from an incorporation and appropriation of constructivist-geometrism, informalism and abstract expressionism, within his own vision of art in Mexico.
His work has been compared to Picasso and Rufino Tamayo by art experts such as Teresa del Conde.
In 1973 he was appointed member of the Academy of Arts.
In 1988 he received the National Prize for Sciences and Arts in the area of Fine Arts and in 2016 he was awarded the Fine Arts Medal, by the National Institute of Fine Arts (INBA).
Currently, his work is part of large collections, both public and private, inside and outside Mexico.
