Marc Fish Ethereal Sculptural Sycamore Seed UK 2022

About the Item

Ethereal Sycamore Seed Sculpture by International Artist Marc Fish. Made from sycamore and resin in a very organic sculptural form. Elegant and sinuous the sculpture shows grace and warmth whilst evoking nostalgia. The Ethereal Sycamore Seed utilises unique techniques developed solely in Marc Fish's Studio in the UK to catch light in a unique way. His work can be found in private homes in all corners of the globe - the Ethereal series feature chairs, low tables and consoles which all sit well with more traditional furniture or contemporary modern pieces. The Ethereal series is the epitome of innovation from the studio that has become popular among collectors. The Ethereal series is made from Fish’s usual laminated veneers, with the important difference that he leaves negative space between them – treating them not as layers within a solid stratigraphy, but as fins within a more open structure. He then pours resin over these delicate, paper-thin armatures. The use of frosting and tinting in the resin produces mesmerizing visual effects, like sunlight through water currents or tree canopies. The principle of visual movement, which has been central to Fish’s work for years, is quite literally transformed into another dimension. Having drawn his line and followed it this far, he is now moving beyond, exploring the more elusive and evanescent movements of space itself. The Ethereal Sycamore Seed sculpture will sit comfortably in any setting be it contemporary or a more traditional eclectic interior scheme.

  • Glazed ceramic sculptural vase by Freyja Dorren Unique Contemporary UK
    Located in London, GB
Freyja Dorren, Watering Hole, 2023, glazed earthenware- 50cm Height X 35cm Width Unique piece. Freyja Dorren, born and raised in Edinburgh and now based in London, is a recent graduate at the Royal College of Art Ceramics & Glass MA which follows a Degree in Textiles at Central Saint Martins. Freyja has always been influenced by the life of cities, exploring the marriage of old historical aspects of architecture with new and modern developments into our ever-growing cities. Her interest in architecture stems from taking walks through the city of London, discovering old classical buildings, brutalist creations and high-tech features all within a short distance walk from each other. This led her to create work that is a nod to the past and the present, with a graphic style and finish, combining the undiscerning elements of a city. Each piece she has created is influenced by interior detailing, deriving from places such as the V&A Museum and other historic landmarks within London. Freyja's textile print background enables her to transform the tactile surface to create a unique interwoven surface, giving a current relevance to the object, bringing a contemporary twist to each landmark detail, magnifying repetition, and significance of history when we design. The starting point of this sculptural vase is Victorian architectural...
