On peut admirer certains détails mis en relief par une ciselure très fine et très habile. Pierre Jules Mène est né à Paris le 25 mars 1810 et il y est mort le 20 mai 1879. Célèbre à travers le monde entier pour ses sculptures animalières, Il était le beau-père du sculpteur Auguste Cain (1821-1894), qui fut son collaborateur. Cette très belle épreuve est ancienne, elle est d'époque fin du XIXème siècle. Elle est signée 'P J MENE' sur la terrasse à droite. La patine est authentique et présente de légères nuances.
