A scent bottle in pale blue jasperware, with original silver lid. Decorated with Venus and Cupid, as allegories of Night - the one shedding poppies, the other drawing the veil of stars over her head. The God of Love suggests this was intended as a love-token, a gift given to a young lady by her sweetheart. .

Marked: “Wedgwood, Made in England …. “P” … “B” ….. “1957”. An early Wedgwood post 1950 piece. 3.5 inches tall lidded vanity box with a diameter of 5 inches. Rolling vine and grape cameo reliefs, all over the lid and base sides. Fabulous large pointed finial on the lid with floral cameo reliefs on the sides. Exterior in an unglazed matte biscuit finish, but the interior of the box base, has a high gloss finish. In very good original condition, save one minor repair to the inside of the base rim. Not very noticeable but reflected in the reduced pricing. A ‘PERFECT’ match for the smaller and almost identical, lidded jasperware box...
