Virgin in limestone with remains of old colours, prob. Burgundy, 16th century

About the Item

The very expressive Virgin, in a strictly upright posture, carries the child Jesus on her (damaged) left arm. In her right hand, she holds the shaft of a scepter. She looks at the observer in an attitude of contemplation, which suggests that she was once placed at a height. Her hair is finely modeled, her face expressive and the drape of her clothing rigorously ordered. It has retained its different old colors. HD photos are available
