Pair of Early 19th Century Pearlware Obelisks, Assembled

About

This is an assembled pair of very early 19th century English Staffordshire Pearlware Obelisks that have been fitted as lamps. Minor restorations have been made to the obelisks over the past two hundred years. These obelisks were an attempt by Staffordshire potters to mimic the more refined Wedgwood pieces so popular during this time period. These 1800 examples feature "granite" pyramidal tops over Adams-style neoclassical bases. Previously in the Wanamaker Collection, New York.
